   Résumé
   Le village de Serbie où naquit Irena passe pour avoir été, au Moyen Âge, le repaire d'une étrange secte de sorcières, moitié-femmes, moitié-félines. Hantée par cet héritage, et craignant que l'amour n'éveille ses mauvais instincts, Irena mène une vie chaste et solitaire. Un jour, un jeune architecte naval, Oliver, tombe amoureux d'elle. Mal lui en prend.
   Commentaire
   Le producteur Val Lewton inaugurait avec la Féline une brève et mémorable série de films fantastiques, alternativement réalisés par Jacques Tourneur, Mark Robson et Robert Wise. D'une écriture et d'une facture très sophistiquées, la Féline est un film d'ambiance, insidieux et crépusculaire, qui joue magistralement sur la suggestion (le hors-champ et le clair-obscur y ont un rôle fondamental), l'angoisse, l'ambiguïté, la frustration sexuelle, la fascination et la peur de l'animalité. Le film fit l'objet d'une suite: la Malédiction des hommes-chats.
